Analyst Adam Jonas reported that Rivian ( RIVN ) CEO RJ Scaringe spoke to learnings from the R1 process that will help inform R2, and pointed out that the brand already resonates with consumers as evidenced by market-leading residual values and backlog extending until end of FY24. Scaringe expects to see continued improvement of plant utilization and further benefits to gross margin. He pointed to the gross profit improvement in the most recent quarter and said that positive trend should continue. Scaringe detailed the advantages for Rivian ( RIVN ) in vertical integration, including OS/inference chip design, e-motors and electrical architecture. Advantages include faster speed of design/performance/feature iteration and costs.
