TUPELO, Miss., April 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Renasant Corporation (NASDAQ: RNST) (the "Company") today announced earnings results for the first quarter of 2020. Net income for the first quarter of 2020 was $2.0 million, as compared to $45.1 million for the first quarter of 2019. Basic and diluted earnings per share ("EPS") were $0.04 for the first quarter of 2020, as compared to basic and diluted EPS of $0.77 for the first quarter of 2019. "Our results for this quarter were heavily impacted by the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on our clients, employees and communities, which primarily occurred in the final three weeks of the quarter, as well as our adoption of the new CECL accounting standard," said Renasant Chairman, E.
