The facilities, located in Äänekoski and Laukaa, will have a combined storage capacity of 150MW-hours (MWh). The Äänekoski facility will feature a power output of 30MW and a capacity of 60MWh, while the Laukaa site will offer 45MW of output and 90MWh of capacity. Construction on both facilities is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with completion expected in around a year. The two projects aim to enhance grid stability and help manage the integration of renewable electricity sources in Finland. Battery storage systems are increasingly used to address fluctuations in electricity production and demand, contributing to the consistent operation of national electricity supply.
