The Fawnskin-based nonprofit took to Facebook to say that with “heavy hearts and great sadness,” they announced the death of Steers on Wednesday night. “We will be providing more information in the future, but please give our team time to grieve and process this sad news,” the FOBBV Team said. The nonprofit did not disclosure the cause of Steers' death. Steers launched the FOBBV Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam , which livestreamed the daily ongoings of bald eagles Jackie and Shadow atop a nearly 140-foot Jeffrey pine tree near Big Bear Lake. The nonprofit leader quickly became a household name after posting online information about Jackie and Shadow, their mating rituals and freshly laid eggs. Steers would share the joy of eaglets emerging from eggs and later taking flight. She'd also break the tragic news of eggs not hatching, being damaged or eaglets dying.
