Panera Bread has introduced a new guest-facing in-store role as part of its RISE transformation strategy: the Guest Experience Champion. Even as Panera eliminates some baking roles as the fast-casual brand transitions to a mainly par-baked model for its breads and pastries, the company is focusing on adding additional in-store hospitality. According to Panera, the Guest Experience Champion will be charged with “thoughtful gestures like refilling drinks, checking in with guests, creating moments of surprise and delight through sampling opportunities and more,” and will be present seven days a week in stores. “The Guest Experience Champion role was created as part of the ‘Serve With Excellence' pillar of our Panera RISE strategy to further elevate our bakery-cafes' ability to serve and connect with our guests,” Brooke Buchanan, chief corporate affairs officer, told Nation's Restaurant News. “Panera Warmth - exceptional hospitality, rooted in genuine human connection, is central to
