The stock increased 7% Wednesday to $46.73 a share the morning after the company announced its results for the quarter ended Dec. 31. The stock is down 13% over the past 12 months. Advertisement Stamford, Conn.-based Silgan on Wednesday reported net income of $64.4 million, or 60 cents a share, compared with $24.6 million, or 22 cents a share in the year-ago quarter. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting 58 cents a share. The company reported $1.34 billion in revenue from $1.46 billion in the year-ago quarter. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting $1.39 billion. The company said it will deliver $50 million in cost reductions over the next two years as it sees tends improve for destocking, the trend of companies reducing their inventories and therefore their packaging needs.
