The airline announced Sunday that it will purchase Sun Country Airlines in a cash and stock deal worth approximately $1.5 billion. Allegiant and Sun Country shareholders will own approximately 67% and 33%, respectively, of the combined company. Allegiant is a popular low-cost U.S. airline that is popular with leisure travelers looking to get somewhere cheaper. Most extras, like carry-on bags, seat selection, priority boarding, snacks, cost extra, but direct flights are usually offered to smaller airports that some larger airlines skip.
