Relative to the DRAM and HBM markets, the NAND industry is much smaller in size and also more fragmented, which has led to abrupt market turns in the past. In response to the ongoing shortages of NAND memory, Samsung, SK Hynix, and Kioxia are all expected to significantly increase production over the coming years. The Chinese manufacturer YMTC is also expected to increase supply meaningfully, with plans to multiply its production by 2.5x over the next few years. Sandisk is currently trading at ~8.7x the earnings expected in fiscal 2027, which could well mark the peak of the ongoing NAND supercycle. Memory prices are unlikely to remain high enough and long enough to justify SNDK's current valuation.
