Hunt County voters approved bonds in May of 2025. The bond issue date is expected to be Jan. 28. According to a prepared statement from the district, “the bond proceeds will be used to purchase, construct, acquire, repair, renovate, update, upgrade, modernize and equip buildings or improvements for hospital purposes” at Hunt Regional Medical Center. The amount also includes paying costs of bond issuance. The statement added that once sale proceeds have been received, Hunt Regional Healthcare can move forward with projects that include purchase of a new linear accelerator for cancer radiation treatments; a hybrid operating room suite for cardiac, vascular and surgical needs, increased inpatient bed capacity, emergency room improvements and infrastructure upgrades.
