S&P Global Ratings moved the Natural State from a stable to a positive rating . The May 2 report maintained the AA rating on Arkansas general obligation bonds. Arkansas among best states to start a business: Forbes As one of the only six states with a positive rating, the rating change is expected to draw greater attention to the state, according to a Department of Finance and Administration spokesperson. “The business community is certainly aware of S&P as leaders rely heavily on its ratings,” the spokesperson said. “The upgrade from stable to positive means the state's potential for investment and expansion increases, ultimately benefiting Arkansans as our economy expands.” Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has repeatedly expressed her desire to lower taxes throughout her administration.
