Microsoft had Satya Nadella. Anglo American had Cynthia Carroll AMD had Lisa Su . Who can transform the culture of Boeing? While I have a few people in mind, the best person to offer specific suggestions is likely former CEO of Boeing Commercial (and former Ford CEO) Alan Mulally. He is, in my opinion, the finest CEO of his generation. Had Boeing's board picked him to be CEO in 2005 instead of Jim McNerney (like Dave Calhoun, the current CEO, a GE product and one of the key players in Boeing's decision to abandon the engineering-centric culture that made it great), I doubt it would be in this situation in the first place. Mulally is retired now, but any great leader always has an eye on talent. I'd be shocked if he didn't have some great suggestions. This new CEO will have no small job.
