China Wants a Bigger Piece of Germany's EV Market, but VW and BMW Aren't Giving It Away [Yahoo! Finance]

For now, however, domestic brands such as Volkswagen and BMW continue to dominate electric vehicle sales on their home turf. That is the central conclusion of a new study reviewed by Business Insider, based on vehicle registration data analyzed by consulting firm EY. Chinese manufacturers increased their electric vehicle sales in Germany by nearly 25% over the past year. While that growth rate is notable, it has not been enough to challenge local players. German automakers expanded even faster, pushing their combined share of the German EV market to a record 63%. According to EY analyst Jan Zipper, Chinese brands are entering Europe with significant effort but are achieving only modest results in Germany.
