Only a few months before Carlos Tavares resigned, the Stellantis National Dealer Council, commonly known as the NDC, sent an unusually sharp letter to the then CEO. In it, the group accused him of steering the company toward “disaster” and causing the “rapid degradation” of Jeep, Ram, Dodge, and Chrysler. Stellantis responded defensively at the time, arguing that public personal attacks on the CEO would not produce solutions. Even though Tavares left the top job in December 2024, his impact still lingers in U.S. showrooms. In comments reported by Automotive News, NDC chairman Sean Hogan said the prior leadership team pushed a vision that leaned too hard on cost-cutting and not enough on brand emotion and identity.
