Route 66 was first established in 1926. The 2026 Detroit Auto Show will host an exhibit celebrating the history of the route, with rides on display that have made the voyage. The exhibit will feature photos and tales from the road. An exhibition at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show might feel more like Illinois. Or Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona or California. That is because the auto show will be hosting an exhibition celebrating 100 years of the historic jaunt of Americana — Route 66 — which was first established in 1926, stretching from Santa Monica, California, to Chicago. The exhibition will showcase nine classic and modern vehicles inspired by Route 66, and the show will be the final destination for a nine-vehicle cross-country convoy of historic rides that will drive the route.
