Sell-The-News Takes Hold  | Dec 04, 2017 | 4:23 PM EST The 'sell the news' setup today was painfully obvious which is why many market players were thinking it might not work.  Typically the computer algorithms are programmed to squeeze the skeptics or to quickly buy even shallow pullback. That didn't work today. The primary reason was the rotation out of technology and momentum names and into 'values' that have been underperforming for most of the year.  Today the big winners were in the restaurant and retail sector with names like Dineequity (DIN) and Bed Bath and Beyond (BBBY) scooping up some of the buyers that rushed to sell semiconductors and technology names. Market players are so used to the 'buy the dip' action that they are confused by the rotational action that has suddenly taken hold.
