DALLAS, April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Alerian announced today that Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ETP) is expected to be removed from the Alerian MLP Index (AMZ), Alerian MLP Equal Weight Index (AMZE), Alerian MLP Infrastructure Index (AMZI), and the Alerian Large Cap MLP Index (AMLI) in a special rebalancing.Special rebalancings are triggered by corporate actions such as mergers, bankruptcies, and liquidations. Pending shareholder approval, ETP will cease to trade due to its merger with Sunoco Logistics Partners (NYSE: SXL). If approved, the rebalancing will take place one trading day after the issuance of a press release indicating all needed merger votes have passed.Notably, following the closing of the merger, it is anticipated that Sunoco Logistics Partners will change its name to Energy Transfer Partners and that SXL common units will trade on the NYSE under the ticker symbol "ETP".
