Summary All things equal, I don't dislike Marine Products Corporation (NYSE: MPX ). There's a nice rebound growth story here coming out of the financial crisis - which hit Marine Products hard . Unit sales are trending up nicely, and EBIT nearly doubled between 2014 and 2016. The core Chapparal brand is well-respected, and moves into outboard and jet boats both have shown signs of early success. There are two key problems, however. The first is that I like other plays in the boat space better. I remain long MCBC Holdings (NASDAQ: MCFT ) (d/b/a MasterCraft), and though the run at Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC ) looks a bit overdone , BC stock is hardly expensive. The second is that there are some pressures on Marine Products' business, notably its reliance on sterndrive boats, which continue to decline in popularity.
