The automaker plans to more than double the number of vehicles that it sells in its 2018 model year with one of the most important safety features on the road, automatic emergency braking. It says more than 1 million 2018 new vehicles that it sells in the U.S. will be equipped with the system that slams on a vehicle's brakes when it calculates that it might smash in to a stopped vehicle ahead. About 450,000 of Nissan's 2017 vehicles will have the safety feature. Automatic emergency braking will become standard on seven of Nissan's most popular models.
