Casey’s General Stores, a little-known but major operator of convenience stores in the Midwest, said Tuesday that its long-time finance chief, who helped preside over an aggressive expansion of the chain, will retire. Shares of the company slipped after the announcement, the second significant change in the company’s leadership ranks in less than a year following the naming of a new chief executive in 2019. William Walljasper, who has been CFO of the Ankeny, Iowa-based company since 2004, hasn’t set an exact date for retirement but intends to stay through the completion of Casey’s 2020 fiscal year, which ends in April, according to a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Casey’s has launched a search for Walljasper’s successor, according to a company press release. Phone calls seeking further comment weren’t returned.
