Southwestern Energy ( SWN ) is a name we have traded several times and this column serves to bring it to the attention of our Seeking Alpha followers. Southwestern Energy is outperforming expectations as production guidance continues to rise. There is strong resource potential here, targeted asset sales, and a somewhat unfair link to oil prices. In addition, there are numerous efficiencies the company has gained in recent quarters through things like longer laterals, higher numbers of stage counts, optimized drilling and completions techniques, and deep planning for new wells. These are some of the main reasons for the operational outperformance we are seeing. The stock is another story. The stock has been terrible of late.
