In nearly all of my fragrances, I use labdanum or myrrh for different reasons. One is for spiritual reasons. Secondly, they give a licorice flavor in the background that gives some sexiness. How long does it take you to create a perfume? There are no rules. One fragrance took me five years. I made another fragrance in one week; it’s one of the best-sellers of the brand. Some fragrances, you can be blocked: you start, but it’s missing something and you turn around and around. On my desk, I have so many little accords and notes.
