AT&T Inc. shares are up 1.1% in premarket trading Wednesday, though the company fell short of expectations with its first-quarter results as the COVID-19 outbreak negatively impacted its media business. The company reported net income of $4.6 billion, or $0.63 per diluted share, up from $4.1 billion, or $0.56 per diluted share, in the year-earlier period. The company posted adjusted earnings per share of 84 cents, compared with 86 cents in the year-earlier quarter and the 85 cents that analysts surveyed by FactSet had been projecting. Revenue fell to $42.8 billion from $44.8 billion in the year-ago period, while analysts had been modeling $44.2 billion. AT&T disclosed that it saw growth in its domestic wireless business that was partly offset by revenue declines for areas like WarnerMedia and domestic video. The company said it has withdrawn financial guidance due to the uncertainties around the pandemic. AT&T shares have lost 23% over the past three months as the S&P 500 has dropped
