The company added 294,000 net new mobile customers. Growth was driven by fiber and wireless subscriber gains, including contributions from the February close of AT&T's acquisition of Lumen Technologies' fiber business. The company added 512,000 residential internet customers in the quarter, with nearly 45% of home internet subscribers also taking AT&T wireless service. CEO John Stankey said the company is "uniquely positioned to deliver more of what customers want fiber and 5G all from one provider." The competitive backdrop remains demanding. Free cash flow came in at $2.5 billion, down from $3.1 billion a year ago, as higher capital investment to accelerate fiber deployment weighed on near-term cash generation.
