That amounted to earnings of 87 cents US per diluted share, down from US$1.03 during the prior-year quarter. The Montreal-based trucking firm, which keeps its books in U.S. dollars, says its total revenue for the period was US$1.91 billion, down year-over-year from US$2.08 billion. On an adjusted basis, it reported US$1.09 in earnings per diluted share in the quarter, compared with US$1.19. TFI International CEO Alain Bédard says the company was able to return significant capital to shareholders, as it raised its dividend in the quarter and repurchased "well over" US$200 million worth of its common shares during the year. The company's board of directors approved a four per cent increase to its quarterly dividend during the quarter, now sitting at 47 cents US per share.
