Shares of medical technology company Teleflex (NYSE:TFX) jumped 11.1% in the afternoon session after the company announced it agreed to sell its Acute Care, Interventional Urology, and OEM businesses for a combined total of $2.03 billion in cash. Teleflex stated it planned to use approximately $1.8 billion in net proceeds to pay down debt and return a significant amount of capital to its shareholders. In line with this strategy, the company's Board of Directors authorized a new share repurchase program for up to $1 billion of its common stock. This move was intended to allow Teleflex to focus on its core businesses, including Vascular Access, Interventional, and Surgical.
