More than 141,000 Toyota vehicles are being recalled due to a door defect that could increase the risk of injury, according to a recall notice. In a recent notice published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website, the manufacturer pointed to an issue that could affect the car's electrical system. "Water may enter the rear door switch and cause a short circuit, allowing an unlocked rear door to open unexpectedly," the notice stated. Here's what to know about the recall. Which Toyota vehicles are included in the recall? According to the NHTSA, 141,286 potential units have been affected with the following models: 2023-2024 Toyota Prius Prime 2023-2026 Toyota Prius 2025-2026 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid The recall numbers are 26TB03 and 26TA03. What should car owners do? Owners can take their car to the dealership to get the rear door switch circuits modified for free, NHTSA stated. Notification letters will be sent out on March 15.
