Toyota will release an all-electric version of its 3-row Highlander SUV starting in 2027. The larger Grand Highlander will continue to be available in gas and hybrid electric models. Toyota is electrifying the Highlander due to its waning sales compared to the more popular Grand Highlander. Toyota announced to great fanfare that is electrifying its three-row Highlander SUV starting in 2027, but the Japanese company has decided to keep the larger Grand Highlander available in gas and hybrid electric power trains. Some Toyota fans reacted poorly to the announcement, complaining about the loss of the hybrid version of the Highlander that Toyota has marketed since 2005.
