Products from the microbiology unit include culture media and antimicrobial susceptibility testing tools, serving customers across clinical, pharmaceutical, and food safety markets, the company said. Housed within Thermo Fisher's specialty diagnostics segment, the unit brought in $645 million in revenue last year. The sale is expected to close in the second half of 2026. In the first full year after the deal, adjusted earnings per share are projected to drop by 15 cents. The company will share more details about the impact on its 2026 financial outlook during its second-quarter earnings call. "The transaction reflects our active management of the company and provides additional capital we can deploy to create shareholder value," CEO Marc Casper said in a statement.
