Coach parent Tapestry Inc. reported Thursday that it swung to a wider-than-expected loss, as 90% of the company's stores were closed or operating on shortened hours as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company swung to a net loss of $677.1 million, or $2.45 a share, from net income of $117.4 million, or 40 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding special items, adjusted loss per share was 27 cents vs. adjusted EPS of 42 cents a year ago, missing the FactSet consensus for a loss of 2 cents a share. Sales fell 19.4% to $1.07 billion, just below expectations of $1.08 billion. Coach sales dropped 20% to $772 million but topped expectations of $761 million. Kate Spade sales fell 11% but beat expectations, while Stuart Weitzman sales declined 40% to $51 million to miss expectations.
