Can You Really Buy A Mall For £1 ($1.29)? The Postings Shopping Centre in Kirkcaldy, Scotland The-Postings.com is moving online and has been for some time - fact. Christmas trading results have highlighted this with a clear trend amongst major retailers showing that growth in online sales is the main driver for growth in a shrinking retail market. John Lewis in the UK, for example, saw like for like sales grow by 1% but online sales grow by 12.8% With online changing the face of retail, the value of physical stores is decreasing significantly and retailers are continually looking to decrease their store estates. Research by The Telegraph estimates that 1,267 stores were earmarked for closed in 2018 putting 25,159 jobs at risk and this trend is expected to continue in 2019.
