Tractor Supply Co. said Monday that it will hire 5,000 full-time and part-time workers across its 1,900 stores, the company's largest hiring drive. The retailer is also extending its $2-per-hour wage increase for frontline hourly workers from April 25 to May 9. Tractor Supply has already announced one-time bonuses and health benefits for workers. The company is supplying workers with masks and gloves, has installed barriers at cash registers to protect workers and shoppers, and is expanding its buy-online-pickup-in-store and next-day delivery options. Tractor Supply stock has jumped 9.7% in Monday trading but is down 13.7% over the past year. The S&P 500 index has dropped 9% over the past 12 months.
