Hertz purchased a very large number of Teslas, . Going through the experience myself, I learned more about what they are doing right and wrong. Of particular interest was a feature implemented together with Tesla where, as a Tesla owner, I could scan a QR code on the car's screen when I got into it. This linked with the Tesla app on my phone, and transferred some of my profile settings into the rental car. Teslas have a lot of settings, including seat and mirror positions and a wide variety of options. It was not clear which ones were imported and which were not. Mirrors did not seem to import, possibly because I have a model 3 and rented a model Y. I've wanted this from a rental car for decades. I've been surprised, considering the large number of vehicles sold to rental fleets, that no carmaker has made a variant for the rental market that can remember things like seat positions, radio station preferences and more.
