Some investors have been informed of the plans, the journal reported, citing informed sources. Such a deal could enable Musk to provide xAI with billions from SpaceX's coffers. SpaceX and, recently, electric car manufacturer Tesla - also led by Musk - have already invested $2 billion each in xAI in financing rounds, the journal reported. Neither SpaceX nor xAI are publicly traded companies, which could facilitate a merger. However, a potential merger with Tesla has reportedly also been discussed at SpaceX. Controversy surrounding xAI xAI is developing the chatbot Grok, which Musk launched to compete with ChatGPt from rival OpenAI and others. Grok is currently under fire because the software could be used to depict women in bikinis or lingerie. After authorities took action, xAI restricted the possibilities for users to do so.
