The South Korean corporation could not explain the dramatic drop. The 2023 agreement covered Tesla and its affiliates' high-nickel cathode materials from January 2024 to December 2025.Analysts and insiders say the supplies were for Tesla's 4680 battery cells, used mostly in the Cybertruck. Tesla needs less cathode materials since 4680 battery production is slower than projected. Sales of the Cybertruck have also lagged. Tesla admitted scaling issues with the 4680 battery architecture and a new dry electrode production method.L&F and Tesla did not reply to calls for comment. Analysts said the contract drop indicates technical issues and a worldwide electric car demand slump. As automakers cut EV investment plans, South Korean battery producers have cancelled orders and pulled down cooperation. The withdrawal followed policy uncertainty and U.S. electric vehicle subsidy expiry.Investors will examine Tesla's earnings and production updates for battery output objectives and demand pattern
