The multiyear deal is worth billions of dollars, according to Reuters , which cited an AWS executive. The agreement makes Meta one of the largest Graviton customers in the world, Amazon said. The deal reflects a shift in AI infrastructure demand. While GPUs remain essential for training large models, agentic AI workloads — including real-time reasoning, code generation, and multi-step task orchestration — are CPU-intensive. Each Graviton5 chip contains 192 cores and a cache five times larger than the previous generation, which reduces inter-core communication delays by up to 33%, Amazon said. The chip delivers up to 25% better performance than its predecessor. "As we scale the infrastructure behind Meta's AI ambitions, diversifying our compute sources is a strategic imperative," Santosh Janardhan, head of infrastructure at Meta, said in a statement.
