The lawsuit, Cattle and Beef Antitrust Litigation, alleges Tyson Foods, JBS, National Beef and Cargill “ conspired to limit the supply of beef and increase prices in the market .” Now, Tyson Foods and Cargill have settled their portion of the lawsuit with Tyson agreeing to pay $55 million and Cargill paying $32.5 million for a total of $87.5 million. Both parties have also agreed to “certain non-monetary relief.” JBS settled their portion of the lawsuit for $83.5 million in February 2025. The lawsuit was filed in 2019 by National Farmers Union and four ranchers alleging “anticompetitive conduct in the cattle market,” according to Pennsylvania Farmers Union Class members have four options — they can file a claim, opt-out of the settlement, object to the settlement or do nothing.
