Talk Business & Politics reported on Friday that the poultry giant recently purchased an approximately 350,000-square-foot turkey plant formerly owned by Minnesota-based Cargill for $23 million. The plant is situated on roughly 45 acres at 730 E. Randall Wobbe Lane. Nebraska hospital CEO said Tyson Foods made ‘spreadsheet decision' in closing beef plant TB&P said that Tyson plans to retrofit the plant to allow for chicken processing. The plant opened in 1965, and Cargill acquired it from Ralston Purina in 1976. The transaction comes more than a month after the Springdale City Council voted in favor of Tyson acquiring the plant through the issuance of revenue bonds.
