United Airlines on Tuesday cut its full-year profit forecast as higher fuel costs driven by the Iran conflict weighed on its outlook, even as quarterly results beat expectations. The airline said it now expects adjusted earnings per share of $7 to $11 this year, down from a previous forecast of $12 to $14. United's fuel expenses rose 12.6% in the past quarter to around $3 billion, reflecting a surge in kerosene prices linked to the weeks-long disruption of oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. In response, United said it would scale back planned capacity growth for the year. Despite the cost pressures, quarterly revenue rose 10.6% year-on-year to about $14.6 billion, while net profit jumped 80% to $699 million.
