United Airlines Holdings Inc. fell nearly 3% late Tuesday after the airline announced a share offering. United said it would offer 39.25 million shares of its common stock, subject to market conditions and other factors. Morgan Stanley and Barclays are acting as the underwriters of the offering, and have a 30-day option to purchase additional shares. The proceeds from the offering will be used for general corporate purposes, the company said. United and other airlines have seen capacity fall off a cliff with the coronavirus pandemic, and recently got government aid to shore up their balance sheets. Shares of United had ended the regular trading day up 0.3%.
