Uber said Wednesday that users will soon be able to book hotels through its app, as it looks to expand its offerings and become a do-it-all travel service. “Uber is now an app for everything,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said during the company's product announcement. The rideshare app will offer more than 700,000 hotel listings directly on the app in partnership with Expedia Group. While traveling, users will get reminders to schedule Uber rides and see options for Uber Eats “room service” that can deliver food and any forgotten items, such as a toothbrush or phone charger, directly to the hotel. Uber said the goal of these upgrades is to “reduce the number of steps for travel” for its users. The update “just makes the app much easier for [the user], and they don't have to go to multiple apps,” Sachin Kansal, Uber's chief product officer, said. Later this year, Uber customers will also be able to book any vacation rental available on Vrbo via the Uber app, through a partnership
