That problem might be disappearing faster than you think. Uber is expanding beyond food delivery in a big way, and its latest move could change how people shop for everyday essentials. The company's Uber Eats platform has partnered with Ace Hardware to bring thousands of local hardware stores directly to customers' doorsteps. Uber Eats operates as a U.S.-based online food-ordering and delivery service launched in 2014, with headquarters in San Francisco, California. On the other hand, Ace Hardware Corporation is a 102-year-old U.S.-based hardware retailer's cooperative headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, and the largest non-grocery retail cooperative in the country. “Ace is built on a network of locally-owned stores that are deeply rooted in the communities they serve, and partnering with Uber allows us to meet our customers wherever they are,” said Bill Kiss, Head of Digital at Ace Hardware.
