Full Summary Uber is expanding a $4,000 grant program for drivers who choose to carry passengers in electric cars in a move plug-in car fans hope will spur more adoption of the technology. The popular ride-hailing app said in an April 1 press release that it is expanding eligibility for its $4,000 ‘Go Electric' grant to drivers nationwide after the company piloted the program in New York City, California, Massachusetts, and Colorado. Uber said it is also planning to give drivers up to an additional $1,500 if they buy a new Kia electric, plus $1,000 off any EV that is purchased through TrueCar. “Uber's transition to electric is being driven by thousands of drivers making the switch, as the economics of owning an EV continue to improve," Andrew Cornelia, Uber's global head of electrification and sustainability, said in a statement.
