The FDI Report 2021 , released by Invest in Canada, revealed that global businesses invested a staggering $75.5 billion in the country last year. It was the highest rate of FDI to Canada in 15 years, according to the federal government's investment attraction and promotion agency. Depending on your perception, the stat is either immensely heartening or somewhat concerning. After all, there is a misconception that foreign direct investment can lead to job losses and other negative repercussions for Canadians. However, there is a compelling argument to be made that a good year for FDI is a good year for Canadians.
