(credit: AP Photo) After raising $182 million in a round of funding led by Alphabet, trucking logistics start-up Convoy is putting that money to use by establishing a base in Atlanta. Convoy provides a demand-based platform for companies to optimize the fragmented freight logistics market, which is experiencing a shortage of truck drivers. A centralized platform helps companies facilitate bookings between trucking companies and shippers, eliminating the middle-man brokers that they used to use. It struck a multi-year deal with Anheuser-Busch last year , and counts Unilever, GE Appliances, and Land ‘O Lakes as customers.
