David Stever had worked at Ben & Jerry's for more than 26 years until he was ousted by parent company Unilever in March 2025 over the ice cream brand's progressive politics, according to reports from USA TODAY and other media. David Stever, the former CEO of Ben & Jerry's, has been hired as the new CEO at Columbus-based Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, the company announced on April 22, 2026. Stever started at Ben & Jerry's in 1998 as its brand manager. He served as its North American marketing director and chief marketing officer before becoming CEO in May 2023. Like Ben & Jerry's under original owners Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Jeni's and founder Jeni Britton have long taken public stands on progressive causes such as reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ equality.
