Media reports in India claim McGovern was asked to leave the company on Monday “with immediate effect” and summarily escorted from JLR's premises. The company was of course once known as Jaguar Land Rover but recently shortened its name to just three letters. Neither JLR nor parent company Tata Motors has commented on McGovern's sacking, which sources say came as a complete surprise even to members of his design team. But it comes as JLR revenues have taken a multibillion dollar hit , caused by the imposition of tariffs by the Trump administration on foreign-made automobiles that forced the company to halt shipments of vehicles to the U.S. for the month of April and a cyberattack at the end of August that led to the shutdown of its manufacturing plants worldwide for more than five weeks. It also comes amid growing nervousness over JLR's highly aggressive EV strategy, which may leave the company stranded producing vehicles that, in the current climate, consumers have little interes
