After multiple overtures, Cintas has cut a deal to acquire a smaller Massachusetts-based rival for $5.5 billion, the companies disclosed in a March 11 filing Mason-based Cintas will take over UniFirst Corp ., which also provides uniforms and other products and services to businesses, after the boards of directors of both companies approved deal. Cintas has courted its rival for years The pact comes two months after Cintas had announced it was still interested in purchasing the company based in suburban Boston, having made multiple offers since 2022. Cintas' latest successful bid won the support of Croatti family members, who control two-thirds of the voting shares of UniFirst stock. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026.
