MARKET OUTLOOK: 2026 is the year of execution. If the remainder of 2025 holds, we will witness a rare “three-peat” of double-digit equity gains, driven by a stabilizing economy and the widely anticipated ”soft landing”. Most of the rally in 2025 has come from solid fundamentals and the remainder has come from multiple expansion. The next phase will rely on earnings execution. Estimates for 2026 have S&P 500 EPS climbing into the US$300 to $350 range (or nine per cent to 18 per cent), driven by productivity gains and sustained consumer resilience. At the midpoint of $325 EPS, the S&P 500 is trading at 20.9 times forward earnings. The AI investment cycle is shifting from the “build” phase to the “use” phase. The burden of proof in 2026 shifts to non-tech enterprises: they must show that they are adopting AI tools and they are driving revenue, margin expansion or both.
