SummaryTruist's underlying financial performance was strong in the first quarter, with outperformance on the revenue and expense lines driving a healthy core pre-provision beat.Truist added $600 million to its reserves; Truist's reserve position is comparatively good next to expected losses in a severely adverse scenario, and loan marks provide some cushion.I expect Truist's reserve additions will be more modest than its peers and I believe the shares are undervalued.Painting with a broad brush, all of the super-regional banks are more or less in the same boat now – a tough rate environment, a coming recession, and concerns over reserve levels.
