crude exports to its refineries and other buyers, according to reporting from Reuters citing four sources familiar with the discussions. The talks are happening as Washington and Caracas make progress in negotiations to supply up to 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil to the United States. President Donald Trump is also encouraging American oil companies to invest in Venezuela's energy sector. Chevron currently stands as the only U.S. oil major with operations in Venezuela, working under a special U.S. government authorization that exempts it from sanctions imposed on the country. The U.S. is also working to involve other American companies in Venezuelan oil exports, according to three industry sources.
